Angel Tree Project
The Angel Tree is an annual community service project sponsored
by the ASU Honors College Association to benefit needy children
in Northeast Arkansas. It is an effort to see to the needs of the
disadvantaged children during the Christmas season. Each angel on
the tree lists information about a child: age, gender, clothing
size and a toy they would like. To participate all people have to
do is take an angel from the tree, which is located just inside
the ASU library near the circulation desk, sign the sheet on the
table next to the tree, and bring the unwrapped presents back to
The Honors College lounge, located in The Honors College building
adjacent to the main lobby Room 103, on December 4th. The Honors
College Association wraps the presents during a wrapping party,
and delivers them to the selected organization before Christmas.
Throughout the past years various organizations like Jonesboro
City Youth Ministry, Arkansas Department of Human Services of Mississippi
County, City Team Ministries, etc. in Jonesboro and Northeast Arkansas
benefited from this project. The year of 2006 marks the 11th anniversary
of the Angel Tree Project and the project helps Court Appointed
Special Advocates (CASA), which is an independent non-profit organization
that has been helping abused and neglected children since 1995.
